Bearett's First Birthday

Good friends of ours have a boy named Bearett so it was only obvious to have a bear themed first birthday party for him. These are the cute invitations I came up with and matching baby stationery Thank You cards. I made tags for the bags of acorn shaped candy I suggested for the goodie bags. Handmade Valentines

These cute Valentine's were created for my son's class long before he cared about Star Wars, Scooby Doo or The Tranformers. They were personalized for each kid in his class and held a swirled lollipop. Simple, cute and oh so easy to make. Well, I'll be lucky this year if he lets me make them again. He's very opinionated and particular. I may just have to resort to some kind of character ones but I'll put my twist on them. My daughter on the other hand was more than happy to let me make them this year, and actually very excited. So I will be brainstorming to figure out what to do. There are so many options.

Art for Everyone

Not only can I appreciate all the handmade cards and invitations that I've seen, but handmade clothing intrigues me even more. Maybe it's because I can't sew... A good friend of mine sent me a dress she made for my daughter (who is now 3) and I've gotten so many compliments on it. She just sent me to her new website of all things art and I had to share the link. The dress is so cute and so well-made. All About Logos

Logos are the most important part of any business. They are the first step to defining you and what will hopefully represent you for years to come. That is the first thing I tell a new client who comes to me and asks for a business card design or brochure. I ask them, "Do you have a logo?" And the answer is mostly "No." So usually that's what we focus on first and what everything else essentially branches off from. You want it to be a lasting image that will catch people's attention and stick in their mind. I've had some clients that say they can get one inexpensively off the internet. These websites give you, along with a million other companies, a logo for a hundred dollars. But do you want the same logo that another company has? I tell them "You get what you pay for." If you want something unique, clever and creative then you go to a professional designer. Below are some logo designs I've done over the years and ones that are still being used and have become well-known.

Third Time's A Charm

We are proud to announce the arrival of Samantha Eve Hladky. Born on the morning of December 14, 2011 weighing 7lbs 4oz and measuring 20 inches. Everyone is adjusting very well and Noah and Madisen are happy to take the title of big brother and sister. We will be taking a slight break from now until the New Year and hope to get our own cards out before the year ends! Wishing all of our clients a Happy Holiday and a Prosperous New Year. Getting Close to Christmas

As we prepare for Christmas and you have kids or special pets, it's all about the photo. I've used Snapfish in the past for their cute designs and most of all convenience. But being a designer and having some extra time you tend to feel like you've cheated if you don't design your own. This year may be a little harder since I am due to have another baby in two weeks. I may just wait and do a combined holiday/new year card/birth announcement instead. Meanwhile, I thought I'd share my holiday cards from the past two years as a source of inspiration.

A Taste of Hunterdon

I've been working on a corporate brochure for the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Hunterdon County for quite some time now. They have now become Family Promise and want to unveil the new name and new look. This year's "A Taste of Hunterdon" will benefit them and I was asked to create a Poster to introduce the new name and logo as well as to recognize the Honorees and a Placemat for the tables. This event has numerous local restaurants prepare delectable edibles and accompanying the tastings will be merchandise, vacation packages, balloon rides, and gift certificates.

Children's Specialized Hospital

They are the largest and most preeminent pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States. They treat children and adolescents from birth to 21 years of age. Menu Design

Bruno Pascale, a well-known chef, has been keeping me busy with his three restaurants he owns. I "branded" The Mad Chef in Flemington, NJ for him and he loved the menu design and format so much that he had me use the same idea of his other restaurant Marley's in Hackettstown, NJ. Babies Galore

A good friend of mine, Maggie, is due to have her first baby around the same time I'm due for my third! Her shower was wonderful and I included these personalized baby notecards in her gift basket. She was so touched and I knew she'd appreciate it.

It's a Glamour Ball Party

We designed Kristin's 6th birthday party invitations last year as a December Nutcracker theme which are proudly shown on this blog. Her mom has come to us yet again to create invites and favor tags for her 7th Birthday "Glamour Ball" this year. We layered white shimmery paper with pink and included splashes of purple with a Swarovski crystal add-on at the top. The circular favor tags complement the invite and will get attached to mini purses that have the girl's makeup for the party. These girls are going to get made up and enjoy doing the things that girls do!

Children's Art

It still ceases to amaze me how children learn how to draw things, everyday things without any instruction and only through their imagination. I had a busy little bee today making art on paper, on the chalkboard, on the floor.... here is my daughter Madisen's interpretation of balloons and water balloons. Not too bad for a 3 year old!

Fun & Whimsical Wedding

Alison's wedding is going to be so much fun! She's having a "country fair" sort of theme. Bright colors such as turquoise and pinks with the possibility of a photo booth, balloons as table assignments for guests, popcorn and cotton candy, and jugs of lemonade. She sent us some photos for inspiration which led to these super cute Save the Dates. A Pocketfold invitation set was also included to match and she loved it. I can't wait to get started on those. But for now these self-mailing Pouchettes will be sent out tomorrow to California fully assembled so all Ali's mom has to do is hand address the mailing panel.

We Love Rounded Corners

We designed Gina's baby shower invitation on a nice thick cardstock with rounded corners to match the style of the envelope. We always keep the envelope in mind as part of the design, not just what the invitation is delivered in. These style of envelopes are my favorite and in a mustard yellow color (I'm sure something pops in your mind) will certainly stand out in the mail!

Nice Little Surprise

It's always exciting when friends have new babies, and what better than to surprise them with a little package in the mail. I always send a little pack of personalized baby stationery to welcome their bundle of joy. Here is one that just went in the mail today to welcome my friend's first baby girl (after having two boys!) with a onesie to match!

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs Everywhere

The cutest invitation of all, perfect for a bug-themed birthday party. A tulle netting overlays the earthy, speckled paper to simulate a bug catcher net. Something my kids are very familiar with! A coordinating envelope with ants marching across the flap makes this a cute package to receive in the mail.

Bug net favors with personalized tags to match the invitation.

"Hope you had a great time, now Buzz off!"

Personalized cupcake toppers for dessert which matched the invitations.

All of the food had fake bugs in it which left people wondering....

Homemade dirt pudding with fake flowers and gummy worms served in a flower pot.

The Lizard Guys came to our house to put on a "bug and reptile" show which was a hit with the kids.

The Mad Chef

Bruno, the Mad Chef, opened a new restaurant so we designed his logo, menus, and signage. It's just the type of restaurant Flemington needs. Feel free to stop in for dinner over in Turntable Junction (Liberty Village). Excellent, creative food!

Signage we did on the exterior of the building. Instead of printing the utensils, we chose real utensils and screwed them on for a 3D effect.

Wild about Wine

Leslie kept her wine theme consistent from her Bridal Shower to her Wedding. We created her Bridal Shower invitations in a merlot and ivory metallic and included a wine tag for each guest to personalize and attach to her Wine Wishing Well. What a great idea! She's hoping to expand her wine collection this way.... We created her beautifulWedding invitations with a touch of bling and got to be a creative on her Place Cards. We diecut circle tags with a wine charm attached with a ribbon, one for the single, two for a couple. Something for each guest to take home with them.

IHN Box City

The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Hunterdon County held their first annual "Box City" event which was a huge success. We created their logo, tshirts, fliers and posters. It was a special night under the stars which raised funds and awareness for homelessness. The goal of the event was to raise awareness of the plight of homeless children, families and individuals in Hunteredon County and to raise funds for IHN, which is the only homeless shelter in Hunterdon County.

Not Your Typical Baby Stationery

Creating stationery for babies is great because it represents more of what their parents are into or what they will most likely get into as they grow up. Tiffaney wanted a very simple black and ivory invitation with a hint of bling so we created her layered invitation with a swarovski crystal at the top. She didn't want to go over the top because she was having a small wedding, but she loved what we came up with.

Nutcracker Themed December Birthday

Kristin's mom Kathleen came to us with a December birthday planned and since she skipped the party the year before, wanted to make this one extra special. Since Kristin loves ballet and the Nutcracker we made her glittery invitations enclosed in a pouchette and tied with a ribbon, just like in the movie. They were personalized and handed out to each child and included the soldier and ballerina so the boys wouldn't think they were getting a "girly" invitation. Personalized favor tags were also attached to cute present boxes and a wooden nutcracker and candies were packaged in them. Take a look at some of the pictures, the cake matched the artwork on the invitations too! We also included matching Thank You cards for Kristin to give out to her friends.

Mardi Gras Themed 30th Birthday

Elaine was throwing her daughter a Mardi Gras themed 30th birthday party. She enlisted us to come up with something creative and to stand out from the rest. We used a purple feather adhered to a glittery gold paper to add some glitz and glamour. A metallic purple envelope sealed the deal.

Pirates, Skulls & Fun

A pirate themed birthday party seems to be quite the rage these days. We created these great invitations on silver metallic paper, diecut them into circles, and used a skull punch for that extra little detail. Katie and Cory were having a real rustic, country wedding and wanted a Save the Date to reflect both of their activities. Cory is an avid fisherman so creating a simple tag style Save the Date hung by an actual fishing line seemed like a perfect solution. They loved it! I also was able to design a country themed Bridal Shower Invitation with a personalized apron of the bride-to-be.

Personalized Gift Tags

What better than to have a tag for a present and have the child be able to sign their own name? My kids love it and it's a nice personal touch that a card (which most likely get lost) lacks sometimes. Available with the letters of the alphabet to represent the birthday boy/girl's name or numbers to represent the birthday boy/girl's age. And a large, blank spot for your child or children to sign. A hit with parents!

This fold-over tag stores the gift receipt nice and securely so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle!

Petals & Pink

Veronica is One!

When Veronica's mom came to us to design her first year birthday invitation we were excited because she was having a luau! A nice earthy environment paper stock was selected and we created hibiscus artwork with individually hand punched the stamens for some detail. Goodie bag favor tags completed the package with raffia used to tie them on.

Let's Go Bowling!

My nephew wanted to have a bowling party in Michigan so I created these cute custom bowling invitations for him. They were printed on a metallic silver paper with finger holes punched out to resemble an actual bowling ball. I included matching monogrammed Thank You cards to match on gray paper.

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Theresa and Spencer wanted something simple, shimmery and elegant for their winter wedding in Tahoe. We created a nice package with a diecut snowflake and a slick vellum overlay to create a sparkly layered effect. Sealed with a shimmery belly band personalized with their names made for a nice surprise to their guests. A layered program to match held by a silver eyelet as the center of the diecut snowflake worked out perfectly.

Dirtbikes & Quads

Since my son is into riding quads and dirtbikes, it was a no brainer to use that as a birthday theme. I printed them on a grainy tan paper to resemble dirt and ran over the envelopes with a toy dirtbike dipped in brown paint to look like tracks ran across it. Instead of a goodie bag, I made coordinating t-shirts for each of the kids. Let's just say, it wasn't your typical 2 year old theme! And to add to the love of Elmo for Noah, we put him on the cake riding a dirtbike.

Pet Themed Party

When my son asked me to have a Boxer Themed party in honor of Midas, I thought this could be different, but cute! So I created a doggie package using the googly eyes to add to the invite and gave each of the kids a doggie bag with scooby graham cracker snacks instead of candy. They turned out cute and the cake matched too!
